Bill Bevan

Bill joined the Sedgemoor FM in early 2018, taking on the role of presenting the Carnival Show. Somerset born Bill has lived in the Bridgwater area most of his life attending Chilton Trinity School and Bridgwater College.
Following a career in the automotive industry, Bill founded and co-owns local breakdown recovery company “Frost Rescue” based in the towns Colley Lane trading estate.
Bills love of carnival started at a young age, appearing in his first procession at t of twelve with the towns own Marina Sydenham JCC.
When age allowed, Bill joined his local adult club (Puriton Pilgrims CC), which went on to merge with Westonzoyland based Young at Heart CC to become Evolution CC. Sadly the club is no longer with us, but Bill continues in carnival with nearly fifteen years’ service in Gremlins CC.
As well as carnival, Bill enjoys performing for a variety of theatrical groups in the local area. He also enjoys classic cars, including a 1966 Austin Mini Countryman that he saved from disrepair and is now fully restored.
Bill has always tried to document and archive carnival music. “its almost a genre in itself” he explains.
Since beginning his archive, he has collated over two thousand songs used over the last forty years. He hopes you enjoy the show, especially as the excitement builds towards Bridgwater’s biggest night of the year.
